“Mississippi State felt like home. I was drawn to the strong sense of community and the academic foundation offered by the College of Arts & Science,” said Gabrielle Ferreri, a 2023 Mississippi State University graduate.
Ferreri points to the relationships she built with professors and mentors as the most meaningful part of her experience at MSU. “Their encouragement pushed me to become more involved on campus and take on leadership roles, including serving as vice president of the College of Arts & Sciences Ambassadors,” said Ferreri. “That mentorship helped me grow in confidence, develop leadership skills and ultimately shaped my path toward law school.”
Beyond academics and leadership, Ferreri also cherished everyday moments on campus, from walking to class in the spring and seeing the tulips bloom to sitting outside the Union for lunch near the Drill Field.
Several professors and mentors left a lasting mark on her journey. “Hannah Coleman, Joshua Foreman and Whitt Waide each have challenged me academically and encouraged me to pursue my goals throughout my time at MSU.”
After graduating from Mississippi State, Ferreri continued her education at Mississippi College School of Law in Jackson, where she is pursues opportunities to compete in moot court competitions across the country.
When asked what professional achievement she is most proud of, Ferreri said, “I will be graduating law school in May, so that will be my biggest professional achievement. However, I have been involved in my law school’s moot court board which is essentially a mock trial for law school students. During my time on the board, I have competed in several competitions that involve writing, researching and presenting cases in front of judges. I am so thankful that CAS prepared me by strengthening my writing, research and analytical skills,” said Ferreri on how CAS has prepared her for life and a career after graduation.
Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, pets and her law school community.
Ferreri stays connected to her community and to MSU by keeping in touch with mentors and friends she met during her time at MSU and by supporting current students when the opportunity arises. “Mississippi State will always be a place that shaped me, so it’s meaningful to remain involved,” said Ferreri.
One piece of advice she has for today’s Mississippi State students: “Say yes to the opportunities that challenge you.”
