Macy Brecklein, a 2021 Mississippi State University graduate, first set her sights on MSU after touring the campus as a high school junior and immediately recognizing it as the place she belonged. “The people, campus, and educational opportunities were unmatched,” said Brecklein.

Mackenzie Paul

“Mississippi State’s steady rhythm drew me in,” said MacKenzie Paul, a 2023 MSU graduate. “The beautiful campus, southern charm, close knit community, and easy living sang to me. I didn’t begin my career in the College of Arts & Sciences, but soon after beginning my studies, I realized my interests were shifting keys. Transitioning to the CAS allowed me to study the ideas that resonated most deeply with me: human relationships, emotions, theology, and philosophy. Joining CAS was like stepping into a choir where every voice mattered, and where the arts and sciences blended into a rich harmony that finally felt like my own song.”

Hank Johnston Mathematics Center opens at MSU, to advance foundational education

Mississippi State University’s College of Arts and Sciences hosted a ribbon cutting on Friday [May 8], for the Hank Johnston Mathematics Center, an expansion of the university’s Math Domain located in Allen Hall. The space, made possible through a gift from 1965 MSU alumnus and Apollo 8 project leader Henry “Hank” Johnston, provides additional dedicated learning space for strengthening student success, retention and confidence in foundational mathematics and statistics coursework.

Mississippi Theatre Association honors MSU legacies with named awards

The Mississippi Theatre Association renamed two of its annual DramaFest awards in honor of longtime Mississippi State faculty members Wayne “Dur” Durst and Betty “Jo” Durst, recognizing their decades of service and lasting impact on theater education in Mississippi.

2025 Alumni Fellows

Dr. Paul J. (PJ) Moore III of Spring, Texas, is an accomplished geoscientist with more than two decades of experience in geological research and exploration. A native of Vancleave, Miss., PJ earned a Bachelor of Science in geology from Mississippi State University in 2002.
