About BALA
The Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts (BALA) degree is an academic program that serves undergraduate students who pursue educational or career goals that cannot be satisfied by a single major within the college or university. Through Liberal Arts, students can pursue a major that crosses two or more disciplines offered in the College of Arts and Sciences.
BALA Frequently Asked Questions:
What is liberal arts?
Simply put, the “liberal” in liberal arts refers to the wide range of subjects and disciplines that students can study. This diverse study allows students to make connections across these different disciplines and see situations from a unique perspective.
What is the senior project?
Students work with the Liberal Arts advisor and their faculty sponsor to determine what type of project, capstone, or internship is most suitable. The senior project should embody all the knowledge and academic growth obtained through the student’s emphasis areas. Students are granted credit for the project through GLA 4001 Senior Project course. Some common examples of a senior project include a research paper, community project, or internship.
