“I have always been career-focused through my academic career, so choosing an institution that was highly reputable for broadcast meteorologists was a must,” said Jacob Woods, a 2024 Mississippi State University graduate. “MSU holds that reputation better than any school in the country, so I knew from a young age MSU was meant for me. Once I attended a College of Arts & Sciences Academic Insight Day in high school, I saw how interactive the meteorology program was and immediately fell in love.”

Classical Week, Mississippi State’s annual celebration of Greco-Roman art and culture, returns next week, highlighted by performances of the Greek comedy “Dyskolos” on Sept. 22 and 23. Free and open to the public, doors open at 6 p.m. each night for the 6:30 p.m. performances at Lee Hall’s Bettersworth Auditorium. After each showing, the Judy and Bobby Shackouls Honors College will kick off its yearly Orators Lecture Series with short discussions on humor and satire led by Eric Vivier, associate professor of English and honors college faculty fellow.

“My connection to Mississippi State University runs deep in my family,” said Margaret Shepherd, a 2022 MSU graduate. “MSU brought my mom’s family to Starkville in the 1960s when my grandfather became the first head of the Department of Biochemistry. My dad grew up near Starkville in Louisville, and, following his father’s path in forestry, attended MSU. My parents met in Starkville and were married on campus at the Chapel of Memories. No matter what was happening in our lives, being a Bulldog always brought our family together. When it came time to choose a college, the decision felt easy,” said Shepherd.
