Mississippi State University’s College of Arts and Sciences is recognizing four faculty members for exemplary achievements in teaching, research and service, honoring their lasting impact on students, colleagues and the university community.

Kimiko Hahn, New York state poet and acclaimed author of nearly a dozen collections of poetry, will join Mississippi State University as a visiting writer on Tuesday, Feb. 17 for a special night of selected readings and celebration of the written word.

In his latest book, Mississippi State’s African American Studies Director Donald M. Shaffer examines how early 20th-century African American novels captured the promise and challenges faced by Blacks migrating from the rural South to Northern cities.
