MSU faculty, students earn national honors at Broadcast Education Association festival
STARKVILLE, Miss.—Mississippi State University faculty and students earned multiple national honors at the Broadcast Education Association Festival of Media Arts this spring, one of the premier competitions for student and faculty media work, highlighting excellence in film, scriptwriting, audio and broadcast production.
Marty Lang, an assistant professor in the Department of Communication, Media and Theatre, earned two top faculty honors, including Best of Competition in the Faculty Scriptwriting Competition for “The Dungeon Master” and an Award of Excellence in the Faculty Film and Video Competition for “Stay With Me.”
“Winning two awards at BEA, and having my student win awards as well, is such an incredible feeling. Any time you’re recognized for achievement in your creative work, it’s wonderful, but to also see your student honored for their work makes it even more special,” Lang said.
“These national honors from BEA reflect the exceptional creativity, storytelling and technical skill of our faculty and students,” said Terry Likes, head of MSU’s Department of Communication, Media and Theatre. “Their work continues to meet and exceed industry standards, showcasing the strength of our program on a national stage.
Student winners include:
• Ashton Stanley, a senior geosciences major from Biloxi, Air Personality Category, Award of Excellence
• Sage Graham, a 2025 MSU English graduate living now in Memphis, Short Narrative Film Category, “Blink,” Award of Excellence
