Mississippi State biologist Matthew W. Brown, the university’s Donald L. Hall Professor of Biology, is part of an international research team whose groundbreaking discovery is featured today [Nov. 19] in Nature—one of the world’s most prestigious scientific journals. The published research unearths a new organism and phylum, reshaping the tree of life.

Mississippi State celebrated three faculty members Thursday [Aug. 28] with two of the university’s most prestigious teaching honors. Christopher Snyder has been named a William L. Giles Distinguished Professor, and Kelly Moser and Holli H. Seitz are the university’s newest Grisham Master Teachers.

Thompson has added another honor to his growing list of accolades with a certificate of merit from the Association for Recorded Sound Collections, recognizing his influential research on the intersection of music and military history in his acclaimed book “Cold War Country: How Nashville’s Music Row and the Pentagon Created the Sound of American Patriotism.”
