MSU’s commitment to student success, research opportunities, and community engagement aligned well with my academic goals and long-term aspirations in healthcare. The resources, mentorship, and diverse coursework within CAS prepared me to succeed in a rigorous graduate program and continue developing as a well-rounded professional.”

A student in Mississippi State University’s Department of Communication, Media and Theatre has earned national recognition in the prestigious Hearst Journalism Awards, often described as the “NCAA tournament of college journalism,” held this past fall.

“Justin Thornton’s pathogenic microbiology class solidified my passion for pursuing medicine,” said Ty Clardy, a May 2025 Mississippi State graduate, of a professor that shaped his path. “Learning all the different pathogens associated with infectious diseases and how to treat them felt like the closest thing to a course that directly correlates with the practice of medicine. This course also prepared me for the critical thinking necessary to succeed in medical school.”
