Mississippi State Instructor II Kim Walters is using her Math in Your World class to teach students that math is more than problems in a textbook––it’s a practical tool with everyday applications, starting right here in Starkville.

Mississippi State University chemistry Ph.D. student Chibuike Onyeogulu recently represented MSU on the international stage as one of only 60 students selected from a global pool to attend the American Chemical Society’s Green and Sustainable Chemistry Summer School—a competitive and fully funded program held July 27–August 1 at the University of Vermont in Burlington.

For Lourdes Cardozo Gaibisso, “home” is more than just a place—it’s something people create. “I believe el lugar lo hace uno: ‘the place is made by the person,’” she said. “My mom taught me this when I was a child, and I carry that lesson with me. I try to foster a sense of belonging for students who are far from home by creating a welcoming environment where they feel valued and respected.”
