Scientists with Mississippi State University are playing a key role in an exciting new fossil discovery that’s close to campus, a discovery that may represent the largest mosasaur ever found in the state.

Joining a highly select group of role models and mentors at Mississippi State, College of Arts and Sciences faculty members Kelly Moser and Holli Seitz are recipients of the 2025 John Grisham Master Teacher Award––the most prestigious teaching honor awarded at MSU.

Kenneth Swan, a senior year Geosciences major student at Mississippi State University and Shackouls Honors College has earned co-author credit in a newly published journal article. The study is titled "Quantifying Tornado Outbreak Intensity and Frequency Relationships with Interannual and Monthly Variability."
