Student Profile: Joy Carino
Joy Carino is a senior English major from Los Baños, Laguna who was raised in Starkville, Mississippi. Joy said she chose MSU for multiple reasons, but a big reason was because her “family still lives in Starkville.” During her time at MSU Joy has been involved in Student Association Senate; MSU's student-run arts journal, The Streetcar; and she founded the MSU Poetry Club. Joy’s favorite experience at state was being the piano accompanist for MSU's Women of State and Men of State choirs, where she spent Monday through Thursday “hanging out with that big music family.” Joy describes MSU in one word, “‘growth’ because I and so many others have truly grown from being here, both from the bad and good circumstances.”
