Student Profile: Emily Welch

Emily Welch is a senior geosciences major who was born in Wareham, Massachusetts and raised in Columbia, Mississippi. Emily knew MSU was the place for her because “the campus and its staff was so welcoming, the atmosphere of the campus and its fans was so energetic and comforting! It truly made me feel like I belonged on this campus.” Emily is a College of Arts and Sciences Ambassador and the Vice-President of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. Emily said that her friends and family as well as her advisor Brenda Kirkland have been her biggest influencers and supporters throughout her time here at MSU. Emily’s advice to potential students is to “Tour the campus, go to sporting events, go to the chapel, stand in the middle of the drill-field and embrace all that MSU has to offer.”
