A rising Mississippi State junior will study abroad this summer through the prestigious Fulbright UK Summer Institute, one of the most selective summer scholarship programs in the world.

“More women now earn college degrees than men," said Rachel Allison. "While women still face barriers and challenges in the workforce, including their lower pay [compared] to men, women’s greater education may allow them to hold jobs that make homeownership more possible. There is also decreasing societal stigma to women’s singleness.”

A Mississippi State University faculty member has earned a prestigious National Science Foundation CAREER award to develop the next generation of energy-efficient, transparent and environmentally friendly LED lighting.
