Kate is an Academic Advisor in the College of Arts & Science. Kate joined Arts & Sciences in 2016 as a student worker. She graduated Cum Laude from Mississippi State University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. She is currently pursuing a Master's of Science in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Student Affairs in Higher Education. As an undergraduate student, Kate was the President of the Oktibbeha County Humane Society Student Chapter. She was a Maroon Cord graduate and won multiple Volunteer Spirit Awards. Kate continues to pursue a passion for animals and rescue through fostering and volunteering. Kate married her husband, Jeremy Sawaya, in the spring of 2018. Together they have one dog and two cats. In her spare time, Kate enjoys baking, spending time with friends and family, and playing with her pets.
