Amy Dapper uses evolutionary genetic approaches to understand the origin and maintenance of genetic variation.  A major focus of her lab group is the evolution of reproductive traits, from behavior to cellular pathways. Her research employs both theoretical and empirical approaches, ideally in concert with one another.

Smith's research focuses on developing methods for analyzing genomic data in an evolutionary context and applies these methods to the study of terrestrial mollusks.
