Why Major in Arts & Sciences?

The College of Arts & Sciences (A&S) is the liberal arts branch of Mississippi State University and includes the mathematics, natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, and fine arts. The College flourishes as the largest and most diverse college on campus. With 23 major options in Arts & Sciences, students can find a variety of options for every interest. The National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) recently surveyed employers across the country, and found that graduates with the right skills are preferred over those with the right degree. A liberal arts and sciences education equips students with the communication, critical and analytical thinking, problem solving, and life skills needed to excel in a variety of occupations.

A degree in any liberal arts and sciences major is also excellent preparation for professional schools, such as law and medicine.
