Arts & Sciences Overview

The College of Arts & Sciences, the liberal-arts branch of Mississippi State University (mathematics, the natural sciences, the social sciences, the humanities, and fine arts), flourishes at Mississippi's largest and most diverse university. Growing since the 1950s, the College of Arts & Sciences has had a dramatic impact on the institution as a whole. Almost 300 faculty members in 16 departments, enrolling 3500 majors, give the College of Arts & Sciences and Mississippi State University the breadth and depth of a truly outstanding university. Mississippi State and its College of Arts & Sciences Core Curriculum guarantee a broad base for a well-educated graduate.

Graduates from Mississippi State University and the College of Arts & Sciences have gone on to graduate and professional schools at the nation's best private and public universities. From the beginning, our graduates have found positions of involvement, leadership, and service throughout the United States, and, indeed, throughout the world.
